  • Feminization is the directing of sex differentiation from male to female. Female silver barb have relatively rapid growth compared to males, so it would be advantageous to do feminization of silver barb. Estradiol-17β is a natural estrogen hormone that has been shown to effectively direct female genitalia (feminization). The purpose of this research is determine the correct dose of Estradiol-17β hormone by the immersion method to get the female silver barb larvae starting from the larvae stage (2 days) after the hatching egg phase. The research was conducted from February to May 2018, located at Baros Station for Breeding as a place of maintenance and aquaculture laboratory as a histology test site. The concentration of estradiol-17β used was 0, 30, 60, 90 μg/L with 48 hours immersion time. The results showed there were significant differences from all parameters of the research. The best percentage of female sex with 60 μg/L immersion treatment was 85.46% while the lowest was obtained from the control treatment 45.94%. The best survival rate of fish with 0 μg/L treatment was 82.22% while the lowest was obtained from 90 μg/L dose of 46.67%. The long growth and the weight of the fish showed more higher the given hormone will increase the growth of fish. The lower to given dose will be increase the amount of fish feed consumption as it relates to the survival rate or the number of fish in each treatment container.
