  • This event will be based on Research by the low level of problem-solving ability and disposition of mathematics students , it can be seen by the presence of students that are still difficult to solve a mathematical problem in doing, understand and solve the problem of solving questions of material covered. The subject in this study are students of the country 2-attack on semester 2 academic year 2016/2017 that add up to 50 students, namely 25 students as a class of 25 students and experiments as a control class. The instruments used in this research is a test to measure the ability of mathematical problem solving of students comprising students ability test (pretest) and test the ability of the students final (posttest), and nontes, namely in the form of observation the attitude of the the disposition of the mathematical students against mathematics learning use approach to the metaphorical thinking . Of all the processed data obtained and analyzed by using the help of the program SPSS 23.0 for Windows. The results of the analysis of the data obtained indicate that the average value of experimental class on the pretest of 29.92 while the average value of 69.68 posttest. Thus there is an increase in the ability of the mathematical problem solving of students of 39.76 and if viewed from an average gain of n-gain increased by 58%. The difference in the average value of the proven yield difference after test the hypothesis by using test-t, because the significance value obtained less than 0.05, namely 0.021. On the analysis of data obtained mathematical percentage value disposition early experimental class of 59% of that number are experiencing an increase of 12% to 71% in the percentage of the value of the final disposition of the mathematical activity of students. From those results showed that with the use of metaphorical thinking approach in learning math better than learning to use the approach contextual teaching learning (CTL). The conclusions obtained in this study is there is the influence of the increased ability of problem solving and mathematical better disposition on students who get the math learning using approaches of metaphorical thinking.
