- This research was conducted at SMA N 1 Kota Serang in the academic year 2017/2018 which aimed to see the effect of problem based learning to student’s mathematical critical thinking ability and mathematical habits of mind. The method used in this research is method of combination (mixed method) with incorporation of QUANTITATIVE-qualitative and concurrent embedded design. The study involved two classes of experimental class and control class. The population of this research is all students in grade XI SMA N 1 Kota Serang. Sample were class XI MIPA 8 an experimental class and XI MIPA 6 an control class. The instrument used in this study a mathematical critical thinking ability tes instrument, non-tes instruments in the form of scale of mathematical habits of mind, observation sheets, interview guides, documentation as well as the researchers itself. The result of the study concludes that the ultimate achievement and increase the mathematical critical thinking ability experimental class is better than the control class, the ultimate achievement and increase mathematical habits of mind experimental class is not better than the control class. It shows that there is a effect of problem based learning on student’s mathematical critical thinking ability and ther is no effect of problem based learning on student’s mathematical habits of mind.
