- This study aimed to determine the application of cooperavite learning model STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) at class XI IPA 4 high school 5 Serang city toward students cognitive ability on the subconcept of human digestive system. The research method used quasi-experimental with one group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study were all students of class XI high school 5 Serang term II on academic year 2013-2014. The samples used was class XI IPA 4, with 30 students was given with cooperative learning model type STAD. The sampling technique used in this study were simple random sampling. The instruments used was multiple choice and observation sheets. Analysis of the results of hypothesis testing using t-test at significance level 95% (α 0,05), showed an average value pretest and posttest of students cognitive ability is 50,83 with enough category and 72,50 with good category. Based on the results t-test on students cognitive ability Ho is rejected. It revealed concluded that, cooperavite learning model type STAD improve students cognitive ability on the subconcept of human digestive system at class XI IPA 4 high school 5 Serang.
