- Chili red pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) is one of the types of vegetables that have high economic value. To produce varieties that are resistant to pests that interfere with cultivation of red pepper, then carried out the identification of pests to know red pepper plant pests that attack so that it can reduce the intensity of the attack. This research was conducted on the characterization of three strains of pepper of BALITSA and 2 commercial varieties in order to obtain information with the purpose to yield power to know the abundance of pest, pest, the intensity of the attack and the crops on some red pepper strain (Capsicum annuum L.). This research used randomized complete block design (RCBD) with five treatments and each treatment is repeated five times. The treatments are C1 (Strain PP 0537- 7558), C2 (Strain YK1), C3 (Strain YK2), C4 (Perisai), dan C5 (Tanjung). Important values (INP) and diversity index (Shannon-Wienner) calculated to know the diversity of the pest analysis. The results of this research showed the highest pest abundance is dominated by pest family Thripidae strain C2 (Strain YK1), with an index value of the calculated results peneting from all furrow which is equal to 109,05% and the highest diversity of pest found in strain diversity indices with C1 (Strain PP 0537-7558) (H') amounted to 0,609. The intensity of the attacks on the leaves and fruit showed the results are no different. Results the number of highest yields in YK2 (C3) Strain namely 31,83 t ha-1. The yield of fruit harvest stricken with pest Bactrocera dorsalis also found on strain C5 (Tanjung) yaitu 0,575 t ha-1 in follow strain C4 (Perisai) is 0,084 t ha-1
