- Measurement of the main dimensions of the vessel was conducted to determine the ratio of the major dimensions of fishing boats, covering L/B, L/D and B/D that affect to the strength, speed and stability. The experiment was conducted in February-November 2014 in Archipelagic Fishing Port of Karangantu Serang Banten. The research method is a survey. The data collection method is a census. Data was analyzed by descriptive method. Distribution of the main dimensions of traps have a variety sizes, length (LOA) 7.54-10.83 meters; Ldeck 5.10-9.01 meters; Breadth (Bmax) 1.50-2.30 meters; Bdeck 1.20-2.03 meters and depth (D) 0.38-0.93 meters. Ship with a small value of L/B use more traps and have higher wet area. Ship with a small value of L/D use more traps because have more storage space. Ship with a small value of B/D have of low stability. It use more traps that means weight and the exact position of the charge will increase the stability of the ship. Power of the engine on the boat of traps not based on aspects of L/B, L/D and B/D, furthermore based on economic aspects and habits of fishermen, where the use of the power of the engine 16 PK is sufficient used on traps ships.
