- ABSTRACT This study aims to look and act the beginning of the science capabilities of children aged 5-6 years. This research was conducted in Maret and April 2014 with research subject numbered 10 children in group B aged 5-6 years in early Childhood AlUspuriah Pandeglang. The focus of research is to develop science skills in children aged 5-6 years through a contextual approach. This method used in this research is a method of classroom action research. This research was conducted as many as two Cycle. Each cycle of action procedures that are planning, implementing action, observation and reflection. Indicators measured in this study is the ability to observation and reflection. Indicators measured in this study is the ability to observation, comparing, classifying, measuring, and communicating. The average ability of science beginning in cycle I for 42,20%, and an increase in the II cycle of 68,38%, This shows an increase of 26,18% from cycle or before the given action. Based on the analysis shown an increase in the two cycle, where all items are indicators of the instrument have been achieved with good and there is improvement. Statistically significant difference to an increase in beginning science skill before and after the action has been carried out actions in cycle II. The result show that learning with contextual approach to science is beginning to develop the ability of children aged 5-6 years.
