  • ABSTRACT The Use of Cue Card As Visual Media to Improve Students’ Speaking Ability at Eight Grade Students in SMPN 2 Ciruas Nita Lisniawati 2223091807 This research paper was a classroom action research. In this study, the researcher limited the discussion by stating the following problem “How were the implementation and the result of cue card as visual media to improve students‟ speaking ability”. The aim of the study was to find out the way of implementation and the result of cue card as visual media in speaking ability in eighth grades students in SMPN 2 Ciruas of the academic year 2013/2014. The result of the study showed that using cue card as a teaching media improved the students‟ speaking ability. The average score of the students‟ speaking in guess the picture in the cue card 50.1 in pre-test, become 66.8 in post-test1 and 82.0 in post-test 2 and for developing the cue card become describing the cue card from 58.0 in pretest, become 69.8 in post-test 1 and 83.0 in post-test 2. During teaching learning process, the students showed good response toward the media. The students had high motivation to learn English. They actively learned and practiced speaking in the discussion of the cue card. Key Words: Cue card, Speaking ability, Media, Describing text, Action Research.
