- ABSTRACT The effective use of wind power is highly depends on the wind turbine design, however to develop an effective design for a wind turbine would take too much time and costly. Therefore the writer was trying to do a research to determine the effectiveness of a design of a wind turbine by using a computer simulation method that could reduce time and costs in the process. On this study the writer conducted an experiments with a computational simulation for the wind turbine blade design both for Savonius and Darrieus NACA 0012 using Flow Simulation 2011 software on various angle of attack: 0 ̊, 5 ̊, 10 ̊ ,15 ̊ and 20 ̊ to determine of which variant could produce greater force. As results of the research determined that the total force generated by Darrieus blade increased proportional to the magnitude of the angle of attack α until it reached the critical point at 15 ̊, at 20 ̊ the force decreased due to increased of drag force.
