- This study aims to determine differences in the ability of creative thinking and improvement of students' creative thinking ability IPA using a synoptic model and direct learning model. The method used in this research is quasi experiment with Pretest research design and Posttest Non Equivalent with sampling technique in this research using Probability Sampling. Population in this research is all grade IV SDI Al-Azhar 40 Cilegon with sample that is class IV-B as experiment class by using synectic model and class IV-A as control class by using direct learning model. On the subject of natural science, especially on the material of simple technology works. Based on the results of the study, it shows that there are differences in the ability of creative thinking and improvement of creative thinking ability between students using the synoptic model and direct learning model. This can be evidenced from the calculation of data analysis techniques to test the first hypothesis using a two-t test. From result of calculation of hypothesis test ttable value = 2.03>tcount = 2,37, hence Ho rejected and Ha accepted, it can be concluded that there is difference of ability of creative thinking of student which use model of sinectik with direct learning model. Data analysis techniques to test the second hypothesis in this study using the test-t 'one party. From the calculation of hypothesis test obtained ttable value = 1.67>tcount = 1.73, then Ho is rejected and Ha accepted, it means the improvement of creative thinking ability of students who use the higher synectic model than the students using direct learning model.
