- Waste dye was produced from the textile industry that is difficult to decompose, hazardous and could contaminate aquatic environment. One of potential methods to degrade the waste is using photocatalytic by photocatalyst TiO2. The photocatalytic method could be more optimized through the addition of supporting materials such as zeolite. The purpose of the research was to determine the natural zeolite Bayah as a support TiO2. The research consisted of three stages; activation of zeolites, preparation of TiO2-zeolite and photodegradation stage. Samples were then analyzed by BET and UV-VIS spectrophotometer. This research has examined the effect of a wide variety of variables such as the size of zeolite diameter, mass ratio of TiO2:zeolite, solvent type and influence of UV light. The photodegradation result indicate that the optimum composition mass of TiO2 in zeolite were 2 grams with ethanol as the solvent to eliminate up to 95.01% from 20 ppm methylene blue solution for 4 hours using UV light irradiation.
