- SUMMARY M.Syaiful Jabbar, 2013. Effect of PVP on growth of patchouli plant (Pogostemon cablin Benth.) in the in vitro culture media. Guided by Ratna Fitry Yenny and Susiyanti This study aims to determine the patchouli plant (Pogostemon cablin Benth.) growth responses to the culture medium by giving pvp in vitro. The research was conducted at the laboratory of biotechnology, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa, Serang, Province of Banten. From February until May 2013. This study using Completely Randomized Design (CBD), arranged in factorial and consisted of two factors. The first factor is culture medium (M), which consist of 2 level are: (MS and WPM). The second factor is concentration of PVP (P), which consist of 5 level are: (0, 2,5, 5, 7,5, 10 g/l). The combination treatment was repeated three times. The variabel which observed were bud initiation time, increase in plant height, increase in leaf number, shoots number, percentage of browning, percentage of explant. The result showed that medium MS and concentration PVP 10 g/l giving the best result on all the parameters of the observation that bud initiation time, increase in plant height, increase in leaf number, and shoots number. There interaction between medium culture and concentration PVP on observation parameters bud initiation time and the treatment medium MS + PVP 10 g/l on increase in plant height at 6 MST.
