- This study aims to determine the ability to understand the concept of students using the Outdoor Study Learning Method against students using Indoor Study Learning Method. The type of research used is quasi experimental in the form of non equivalent control group design. Sampling was done using purposive sampling technique. The selected sample is class VA as experimental class which get treatment and class VB as control class which not get treatment. Based on pretest data processing obtained by average value of student of experiment class equal to 30,38 while control class equal to 29,75. After the lesson, both classes are given posttest. Based, on the data processing and posttest obtained the average ability of students’s concept understanding on the subjects of IPS students experimental class of 80,61 while the control class of 58,39 from the results of the difference test average. To test the hypothesis used test inferensial. The result of test the right obtained t-value 5,74 and t-tabel 1,673. Based on the result of this research can be concluded that the ability to understand student’s concepts on the subjects of IPS students using the Outdoor Study Learning Method there is better than the students who use Indoor Study Learning Method.
