  • This research is motivated by the importance of understanding the concepts that must be possessed by every student in physics learning, so it is necessary to find alternative learning that can improve students' conceptual understanding. The alternative learning applied is learning using PhET Media Simulation. The purpose of this study is 1) To find out an increase in conceptual understanding of students who get learning using PhET simulation media compared to students who get conventional learning media; 2) To find out the effectiveness of conceptual understanding of students who use PhET simulation media learning compared to the conceptual understanding ability of students who use conventional learning media. This study uses an experimental design with a quasi-experimental type with a non-equivalent control design that uses two classes namely the experimental class and the control class. The instrument used in this study was a test instrument in the form of 20 multiple choice tests. The population of this study was all students of class XI IPA MA Al-InayahJerangIlirCilegon. Samples are taken randomly by group (class). Data from the research results were analyzed statistically. Data came from the value of the pretest, posttest and gainof the experimental and control classes. The results of the study show that: 1) There is an increase in understanding of concepts of students who get learning in Media Simulation PhET compared to conventional media learning. This can be seen from the results of calculations with the average value of N-gain showing that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, namely the acquisition of N-gain experimental class is 0,51, while the average value of Ngain dick class is 0,22 . It can be concluded that the N-gainexperimental class is higher than the control class; 2) Effectiveness of conceptual understanding of students who use Media PhET Simulation is higher than the conceptual understanding of students who use conventional learning media. this can be seen from the results of calculations with t-test in the experimental and control classes. thenttable= 2,01 and tcount = 6,90. Then compare tcount with ttable and get tcount>ttable or 6,90> 2,01.
