  • This research was aimed to know the effect of modification of MS medium and magnetic field strength to shoot initiation of marasi (Curculigo latifolia Dryand) in vitro. This research was conducted in October to December 2014 at Biotechnology Laboratory of Agriculture Faculty, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. Research was arranged in Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors. First factor was modification of MS medium with 2 levels and second factor was magnetic field strength with 4 levels. Results showed that modification of MS medium and magnetic field strength did not give significantly effects to all parameters. The best modification of MS medium was shown in 0,5 MS medium to all parameters. Even though the magnetic field did not give significantly effect, 13 μT magnetic field strength gave the best results in shoot appearance time and shoots number. Control of this research gave the best result in explants height. There was no interaction between modification of MS medium and magnetic field strength to all parameters.
