- The objectives of the researcher were to know the process of teaching reading comprehension in narrative text by using picture and to know the improvement of students’ reading comprehension in narrative text by using picture at the 8th grade of SMP Madinatul Hadid Cilegon. The researcher conducted a Classroom Action Research (CAR). Classroom Action Research is qualitative research which consists of cycles. The first cycle was the application narrative text, and next cycle was the application of picture for teaching reading. This research consists two cycles with four meetings for giving treatment and test. The researcher begins the cycle of the meeting at 19th May until 31st May 2014. The subjects of the researcher were the students of class VIII B of SMP Madinatul Hadid academic 2014-2015 consisted 38 students. In collecting the data, the researcher used test, observation and documentation. As the result, the process of teaching students narrative reading by using picture was interesting and good responses from the students. It made the students’ more active and enthusiastic in teaching and learning process while the students achievement also improved from 72.23 in cycle 1 and 85.06 in cycle 2, it mean that there was an improvement for students’ achievement from cycle 1 improved 12.5% and cycle 2 improved 13.82%. The students’ score was getting better in each cycle. It indicated that the students’ achievement in learning reading was improved.
