  • The objectives of this research are to know the process of teaching reading by using memorizing games and to find out the students’ improvement in their reading by using memorizing games. To achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher conducted a classroom action research. This classroom action research held at SMPN 2 Karangtanjung. The subject of this research was the seventh grade, which is, consists of 32 students. This action research consists of two cycles. Before conducting two cycles, the researcher did the pre-test. The instruments used in data collecting were test, observation, and documentation. Besides, the writer took some pictures when teaching learning process occurred. The process of teaching reading in this research was very fun and interesting for students. The analysis of the data showed there was a significant difference of the students’ achievement in the pre-test and the post-test. The students’ achievement in pre-test was 49,45%. The average score of the students’ achievement in the cycle 1 was 72,57% and 84,86% in the cycle 2. It was improvement around 12,29%. The main factor affecting this improvement was the students’ interest in teaching learning process by using memorizing games. Based on this data, the researcher concluded that memorizing game can improve students’ reading skill. It suggested that teaching reading by using memorizing games recommended for English teacher.
