Food Security and Agriculture Department of Cilegon City is one of the government institutions that actively conducts farmers' development programs, especially melon farmers in Cilegon City. The program has been running for five years from 2009. Some of the reasons driving the Food and Agriculture Department of Cilegon City are conducting the development of melon farmers, among others, to increase the production and availability of melon fruit in Banten Province and surrounding areas and to increase the potential of Cilegon region For the cultivation of melons, as well as improving the welfare of melon farmers. This study aims to determine the role of agricultural extension workers as teachers, analyzers, advisors, and organizers. The research method used is the survey method Determination of research location done intentionally or purposive that is in Cilegon City of Banten Province. The research instrument used is questionnaire questionnaire with measurement using Likert scale. The respondent used is census method, where the entire population is used as research sample. The results showed the role of agricultural extension workers in Cilegon City of Banten Province according to the farmer's appraisal in terms of the role of extension as the majority teacher is considered "good enough" with 56% percentage. The extensionist's role as a majority analyzer is rated "good" with a percentage of 48%. The role of counselor as a majority advisor is considered "good enough" with a percentage of 60%. The role of extensionists as organizers has a "good enough" rating with a 52% percentage.
