  • Stevia is a natural sweetener that can be used as a substitute of sugar cane. Stevia contains both stevioside and rebauside. This ingredient is sweeter 300 times than sugar cane. Stevia usually produced with conventional method by cutting stem and seed, but plant did not growth together and have many obstacles. In vitro is one method to producing stevia with fast and many stock especially callus induction. The aimed of this research was to study effect of combination of source and carbon concentration on growth of stevia for callus induction. In this research used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 1 factor which consist of 12 levels, fructose 20 g/l, 30 g/l, 40 g/l, 50 g/l; sucrose 20 g/l, 30 g/l, 40 g/l, 50 g/l; maltose 20 g/l, 30 g/l, 40 g/l, 50 g/l. The results showed that the fructose treatment of 20 g/l and 40 g/l showed faster callus induction time with 11 and 10 days. Sucrose 30 g/l had a significant effect on the callus diameter parameters around 0,66 cm in 6 weeks. The average treatment yielded a whitish-green color with a compact callus texture.
