  • The research is motivated by the low ability classification of children age 5-6 years in kindergarten PGRI Julat Cikulur Lebak Banten with the results of preaction observation shows the percentage of 25%. This is indicated by the child who has not been able to classify according to the color, shape and size. Therefore, the researcher purpose to (1) know the implementation of classification activities in improving cognitive abilities of children age 5-6 years in kindergarten PGRI Julat Cikulur Lebak Banten, and (2) know the cognitive abilities of children aged 5-6 years in kindergarten PGRI Julat Cikulur Lebak Banten can be improved through classification activities. The method used in this research is Classroom Action Research (PTK). The subjects of this study were children aged 5-6 years consisting of 12, ie 6 boys and 6 girls. This research is conduct at TK PGRI Julat Cikulur Lebak Banten. Techniques of collecting data through observation, field notes, documentation records and interviews. Implementation of research conducted with 2 cycles that cycle I consists of 8 times action and cycle II consists of 2 times action. Data analysis techniques used are quantitative data and qualitative data. Based on the research results, it can be seen that the process of classification activity has 3 stages, namely (1) preparation; researchers prepare RPPH and introduce media and materials (2) implementation of activities; (3) evaluation. Cognitive ability after application of classification activities. The succesful criteria of action in this research in 70% in improving cognitive abilities. The percentage of cognitive ability in cycle I is equal to 40,64% and percentage of cognitive ability of child at the end of action of cycle II equal to 78,92%. Referring from the results of research see that the implementation of classification activities can improve cognitive abilities of children age 5-6 years in kindergarten PGRI Julat Cikulur Lebak Banten.
