Faculty of TeacherTraining and Education. 2014 The background of this study was the ability of communicationand mathematicaldisposition was very low. This was due to the learning activities that were stilldominated by the activity of the teachers and didnot associate the material withcontextual problems experienced by students. Based on thiscase, the effort thatshould be done was by using the implementation of realistic mathematicseducation (RME)approach basedon Banten culture team quize typeas a learningtool that offers a learning concept that helps students in foster mathematicalcommunication abilityand dispositions. The purpose of this study was: was theultimate achievement andthe improvement ofcommunication ability andstudentsmathematical disposition which were given in learning process with theimplementation of RMEapproachbased onBantenculture team quiz type wasbetter than the students who get regular learning. This study used a quasi-experimental methods. The population in this study is Junior High School ateighth grade students in the Serangcityand the sample was taken two classes in acluster random sampling. The instrument used was a test of mathematicalcommunication ability and dispositions scale. From this study it could beconcluded that the final achievement and improvementofcommunication abilityand disposition given students' mathematical learning with the application of aculture-based approach RMEBanten type quiz team better than the students whoget regular learning.
