- This reseach is aims to determine student cognitive capability through the application of mind mapping techniques on the concept of human body defense system. The method used in this research is descriptive method. The population in this study is all students of class XI IPA SMA Muhammadiyah Serang City academic year 2017/2018. This research sample is class XI IPA. The data collection technique uses objective test in the form of multiple choice to measure students' cognitive ability and observation sheet to assess the mind map made by the students. Based on the results of research shows the average value of students' cognitive abilities in the class XI IPA is 82 with good category. The results of the percentage of students' cognitive abilities on each criterion were 20% excellent criteria, 55% in both criteria, and 25% sufficient criteria. The results of the students mind map as a whole showed an average score of 70.75 with good category. Based on these results can be concluded that students' cognitive abilities was on good category by using mind mapping techniques.
