- This study aims to determine the ability to think creatively learning students in the subjects of social studies that apply the model of learning Word Square better than students who apply direct learning. The research method used is quasi experiment with research design onequivalent control group design. Sampling is done by using purposive sampling technique. The selected sample is the students of class IV-B into the control class which received treatment in the form of direct learning and the students of class IV-A into the control class who received treatment in the form of learning using Word Square model. Data analysis techniques to test the hypothesis in this study using Gain test is to improve. From the calculation of Gain test can be obtained = 0,05 with degrees of freedom ((dk) = 76, count is greater than the is 2.05> 1.99 then accepted and rejected. So it can be concluded that the improvement of students' learning creativity skills in IPS subjects using word square learning model increased from students using direct learning model. Based on the data processing results of the test of one party (right side) obtained count is greater than tabel is 2.01> 1.67 then accepted and rejected. Based on the results of research that has been done, so it can be concluded that the ability of student learning creativity in the subjects of social studies that apply the model of learning Word Square higher than students who apply direct learning.
