- Implementation of Unit Level Curriculum (KTSP) can run well needed a learning media, one of which is teaching materials. The teaching materials used can be syllabus assessment system, learning implementation plan (RPP), textbook, student worksheet (LKS). Instructional media that is commonly used by student is Student Worksheet (LKS). The school only uses teaching materials of LKS without any handouts or other supporting books as a handle student. While the Social Science learning is less effective when using one book only. Role of Family Members is one of the subjects in Social Studies lesson. In this material students are required to be able to tell the role changes that occur in family members in everyday life. Form of research was the method of research and development. The design used in the research and development of these materials was adopted from the design model of Borg and Gall. This research aims to; 1) Knowing the development of IPS materials based on Handout, 2) Knowing the need for development of teaching materials at SDN CIGABUS, and 3) Knowing the feasibility of IPS product based on Handout. Development of this instructional material has produced a product of Handout-based teaching materials in class II at SDN CIGABUS District Taktakan Serang-Banten. From the validation of this teaching material proved valid with the average of the material experts validation 90.47% meyatakan very valid, the results of the validation of the design experts 81.61% stated very valid, the validation of education experts 89.50% stated very valid, and the results of class II SDN CIGABUS District Taktakan Serang-Banten 95.99% stated very valid.
