- This studies aimed to determine the effect of mind map method on students’ cognitive ability of environmental pollution concept at SMPIT Asy-Syukriyyah Tangerang. This research was quasi experimental that use randomized control group design. Population in this research were all students of class VII with sample of research consisting of two class that is VII.D class student as experiment class and class VII.B as control class. Sampling technique is done by purposive sampling. Data were collected using cognitive ability test with multiple choice. The results showed that in the experimental class the average score of cognitive ability of 74 students who are in good category. Based on the result of hypothesis test on students' cognitive ability showed the significance value pf 0.002 . So the initial hypothesis that the use of mind map method has an effect on cognitive ability of class VII students on the concept of environmental pollution in SMPIT Asy-Syukriyyah Tangerang.
