- ABSTRACT NENI RUSTINI. 2014. Catch Composition of Single Monofilament Gillnet in Karangantu Archipelagic Fishing Port. Supervised by RIRIN IRNAWATI and ADI SUSANTO. Karangantu Archipelagic Fishing Port (AFP) at the beginning of its development was a coastal village that traditionally evolved from a group of settlements that inhabit the area at the mouth of Cibanten river. Activity in Karangantu AFP was using a variety of gear types. This study aims to determine the unit specification of single monofilament gillnet; describe the operating method of single monofilament gillnet; and determine the catches composition of single monofilament gillnet at Karangantu fishing port. The research used a survey method. The data was analyzed by descriptive analysis. The results showed that the single monofilament gillnet fishing boat has LOA 15 meters, beam 2 meters, depth 1.50 meters, with Dongfeng 18 HP. Fishing gear of single monofilament gillnet has long 46 meters on the top and 50 meters on the bottom, mesh size 2 inches, depth 13 meters with floats, sinkers, head rope and ground rope. The operating method consists of settings, drifting and hauling with 4 person as crew. The catch composition of single monofilament gillnet consists of 17 genus which dominated by Rastrelliger sp. 75.16% and by catch 24.83%. By catch of single monofilament gillnet dominated by Chirocentrus sp. 28.10%, Scomberomorus sp. 22.22%, Johnius sp. 11.76%, Selaroides sp. 8.49% and Sardinella sp. 6.53%.
