- This research is motivated by the problem of low student learning outcomes and less student involvement in the learning process of science learning. This is because use student learning method that uses monotoune lecture by the teacher. Therefore, to solve this problem researchers will using project based learning methods. The subjects in this research is 35 students of class VI SDN Sumuranja 2, Pulo Ampel district. This research aims to improve science learning outcomes and determine the activity of students in science learning. Method of this research using Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research was conducted for 2 cycles, which each cycle is consist of 2 meets. The instruments used are tests, observations, and field notes. The results of this research are laerning outcomes in science learning have increased. In the pre-cycle mastery learning students only 43%. Then on the first cycle of mastery learning students increased to 57% and the second cycle also increased to 83%. The results of this research also are actitivities of student in science learning have increased. In the first cycle of student activities has increased only 46,8% and student activities at the end of the second cycle also increased to 82,1%. This research concluded that learning by using project based learning can improve learning outcome and activity of the students.
