  • ABSTRACT Evaluation and Comparison of Inventory Policies Using Probabilistic Model P in PT. X Dwi Desta Riyani (3333091910) , Evi Febianti ST., MEng, M. Adha Ilhami ST., MT PT. X is a company engaged in the manufacturing of products such as fiber optic cables used for telecommunication purposes. At present, the company implemented a periodic review inventory system in which the purchase of raw materials natural fiber SMF done once every 3 weeks in the ordering number ranges between 20.000-50.000 miles in one booking with 2 weeks leadtime. Such policies need to obtain regular evaluation and constantly considering the everchanging demand patterns. Characteristics of the model inventory policy P is an interval ordering is done according to a fixed time interval and lot size changeable reservations. Performance criteria into objective function of the model P that minimizes the total cost of inventory expectations. Therefore, in this study will be evaluated using a model P with a back order to obtain optimal policies such as time of ordering, large inventory and safety stock can result in a total inventory costs are minimal. From the results of the model calculation of the optimal policy P obtained at the 12th iteration is performed every time a reservation 51 days, the maximum inventory of the company 175.237 kilometers per year and a safety stock of 108.588 kilometers per year with a total inventory costs of $ 3.736.712 per year . The results of these policies then simulated to determine the total inventory costs for both initial conditions and policy proposals and do as much as 10 replication. Based on the comparison of the simulation results, obtained that the provisions of the proposed inventory that is calculated by using the model of P is a better inventory provisions, because the total cost of inventory produced smaller than the total cost of the initial inventory.
