  • This research to improve a vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension skills of grade VII MTs MF Lempuyang through the use of Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) techniques. This type of research is Classroom Action Research using Kemmis & McTaggart model consisting of 4 stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were VII-1 students of MTs MF Lempuyang consisting of 13 male students and 11 female students. Data collection techniques use objective tests and observations. The objective test is used to measure vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension skills while the observation sheet aims to observe teacher and student activities. The collected data was analyzed by using quantitative descriptive method. The results showed that the use of Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning techniques can improve vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension skills of grade VII MTs MF Lempuyang. This can be seen from the increase of class average value starting from the 1st cycle pretes of 43.08, the first cycle postes of 59.33 and 49.75, the postes cycle 2 of 69.71 and 65.25, and postes cycle 3 of 74, 04 and 71.79. Improving the learning process can be seen from students activeness while working together in groups, they are enthusiastic when communicating answers they find to other group friends as well as responding to answers that have been presented by other groups.
