Daftar Isi:
- Rice bran oil is an important derivative of rice bran. The content of free fatty acids in rice bran can be increased quickly because of their active lipase enzyme in the rice bran after grinding process. The free fatty acids can be converted into biodiesel (methyl ester). Biodiesel is a fuel consisting of a mixture of mono-alkyl esters of long chain fatty acids, which are used as an alternative fuel of the diesel engine and is made from renewable sources such as vegetable oils or animal fats. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimal conditions of making biodiesel from different times in the transesterification process. Research methods include rice bran extraction to obtain rice bran oil, then making biodiesel from rice bran oil by means of transesterification acids and bases as well as analysis of density, viscosity and% yield. Biodiesel optimum results for a time of 60 minutes, the density obtained 0.93 g /ml, and 120 minutes, the viscosity obtained at 7.0784 mm2/s and the percent yield obtained 73.4%
