- his research was conducted with the aim to find out the coal inventory control plan in the company, including the material requirements planning system or raw material. The method that can be used is MRP. The object of this research is PT. Sembada Coal Serang. PT Sembada Coal Serang is a company engaged in coal trading which still has not an optimal inventory planning system. The approach used in this research is forecasting method and MRP. Forecasting method used to find out the quantity of raw material ordered. Meanwhile MRP used to determine the coal raw material needs within a specified period, then proceed with calculating costs and the lot's size. The next step in MRP is adjusting the production schedule with the company's capacity. The last step is scheduling production so the actual production will match with the plan. From the results of the analysis using the optimal forecasting method, the Linear Trend is obtained because it has the highest level of accuracy or the lowest percentage of errors. MRP with the PPB technique, obtained a total cost of Rp. 23,917,338,660-, and the percentage of ordering costs was 57.14%. With the MRP method, the PPB technique can minimize the cost of raw material inventory. So, it can be concluded that MRP is a method that has the ability to minimize inventory cost.
