- This study aims to determine the differences in the ability of conceptual understanding of IPS subjects between students who received learning using Value Clarification Technique (VCT) learning model, better than students who received learning using Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL) , On students of grade V SD N 3 Muara Ciujung Timur Academic Year 2016/2017. The research method used is quasi experimental method with non equivalent design design control group. Sampling technique used is purposive sampling. In this research, VA class as experiment class I and class VB experiment class II. Data collection techniques used are using pretest and postes. The test result from posttest data shows that there is a difference of understanding ability of IPS concept between students using Value Clarification Technique Technique (VCT) model, better than students who are learning using Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL) model. This can be seen from the result of t-test, where tcount is bigger than ttable that is, 3,78> 1,1,667 at 5% significance level with dk = 81 equal to 1,667to tcount> ttable. Thus it can be concluded that the concept of conceptual understanding between learning model Value Clarification Technique (VCT), better than Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL) on the subjects of social studies grade 5 SD N 3 Muara Ciujung Timur Academic Year 2016/2017.
