- A research aimed to know the tubers cutting and appropriate dose of NPK fertilizer for the growth and yield of the Onion (Allium ascalonicum L.). Research carried out in the Institute for Agricultural Technology (BPTP) for 3 month started from July to September 2014. This research used Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) built by diference factorial consisting with two factors. The first factor was tubers cutting with three levels were control; 1/4 cm; 1/3 cm. The second factor was granting of NPK fertilizer doses consisting of four levels ie 0 kg/ha; 200 kg/ha; 400 kg/ha; 600 kg/ha. So there are 12 combinations of each treatment was repeated 3 times. Observation were made every 1 week after planting for variable: plant height, number of leaves, number of tubers, fresh weight and dry weight of tuber. The results showed no significant effect occurred as well as the interaction between the application of tubers cutting with NPK fertilizer on growth and yield of the red onion. Tubers cutting 1⁄4 tend to show the highest results in higher plants 5 weeks after planting (43.36 cm), number of leaves 5 weeks after planting (39.17 strands) and dry weight (52.41 g) and fertilization of 400 kg/ha tend to show the highest results in 5 weeks after planting of plant height (44.13 cm), number of leaves 5 weeks after planting (41.40 strands), fresh weight (71.47 g) and tuber dry weight (52.31 g).
