  • The purpose of the this research is to know that CTL model toward students’ critical thinking in the subject of social student is better than using of direct learning. This research uses quasi experiment method by using design of non equivalent group control design, the taking sampling technique uses purposive sampling to choose two classes, in this research, class IIIA is as a experiment class and class IIIB is as a control class that uses direct learning model. Base on data tabulation shows that the meanpf post-test data is gained in the experiment class is 12,54 and the mean of control class is 6,29.postest data analisis userright side test that in gained thitung> ttabel atau 10, 84 >2,0129. Base on the result of the resesarch, it can be concluded that students’ critical thinking ability toward the subject of socialbstudies using Contextual Teaching and Learning Model is better that the students who aplly direct learning model
