- Thestya Dwi Nourush, 2019. The Effect of Sanding Method and Soaking Time of Potassium Nitrate to Viability of Sugar Palm (Arenga pinnata Merr.) Seed. Under guidance Kartina AM. and Sulastri Isminingsih. The research was aimed to know the effect of sanding method and soaking time of potassium nitrate to viability of Sugar Palm (Arenga pinnata Merr.) seed. This research was conducted in Green House of BPSBTPH, Serang, Banten Province from December 2018 until Ferbruary 2019. The research used a Randomized Completely Design arranged (RCD) as factorial and consisted of two factors. The first factor was the sanding method, consisted of three levels were: without sanding, sanding on one side of seeds, and sanding on two sides of seeds. The second factor was the soaking time of potassium nitrate, consisted of three levels were: soaking for 21 hours, soaking for 24 hours, and soaking for 27 hours. The treatment combination was repeated 3 replication. The result showed that the treatment sanding on one side of prospective bud of seeds (A2) tend to gave better effect to parameters of power germination (100%), growth rate (2.65%/day), normal sprout (92.59%), and maximum growth potential (100%). That soaking time for 21 hours (B1) tend to gave better effect to the parameters of power germination (74.07%), growth rate (1.80%/day), normal sprout (62.96%), abnormal sprout (1.42%), and maximum growth potential (74.07%). There was interaction between the sanding method and the soaking time of potassium nitrate for all parameters except normal and abnormal sprout parameters.
