- This study aims to determine: 1) the relationship between the mastery of effective sentences with the ability to write a narrative essay; 2) the relationship between students' perception of teacher learning strategy with a narrative essay writing skills; and 3) the relationship between the mastery of effective sentences and students' perception of teacher learning strategy with the ability to write a narrative essay. The method used in this research is survey method with the correlational approach. Population of all student / student of class VII SMP Negeri 1 Anyer District 231 students. a sample of 25% of seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Anyer district who are members of the population so that a sample of this study amounted to 25% x 231 = 57.75 58. The result of this study showed: 1) Mastery effective sentence has a significant relationship with the ability to write a narrative essay. This is proven by the results of effective sentence mastery and the ability to write narrative essays have coefficient correlation value of 0.713. This means that the relationship between the mastery of effective sentences and narrative essay writing skills including strong category; 2) The perception of students towards learning strategies teachers have a significant relationship with the narrative essay writing skills. This is proven by the results of students' perception of teacher learning strategy and the ability to write narrative essays have coefficient correlation value of 0.648. This means that the relationship between students' perception of teacher learning strategy and the ability to write narrative essays including strong category; 3_ Mastery effective sentence and perceptions of students towards learning strategies teachers have a significant relationship with the narrative essay writing skills. This is proven by the results of effective sentence mastery and students' perception of teacher learning strategy with the ability to write a narrative essay coefficient correlation value of 0.787. This means that the relationship between the mastery of effective sentences and students' perception of teacher learning strategy with the ability to write a narrative essay includes very powerful category.
