- ABSTRACT THE INFLUENCE OF USING JIGSAW TECHNIQUE TOWARD STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION IN DESCRIPTIVE TEXT AT THE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMPN 18 KOTA SERANG By Dina Setra Yeni (2223102431) This research aims to find out the influence of using jigsaw technique toward students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text the eighth grade students of SMPN 18 Kota Serang. The research methodology was the Quasi Experimental Design by using Nonequivalent control group design. The data was collected through pre-test and pos-test that analyzed by using t-test formula. The calculation result of ttest showed that T count ≥ T 8.19 ≥ 1.672, it can be said that Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the Null Hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, it means that there was a significant influence of using jigsaw technique toward students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text. Moreover, based on the calculation of the effect size, it showed that the significant influenced by using jigsaw technique toward students’ reading comprehension was large because the result of value is 0.732. In conclusion, using jigsaw technique has the large effect for students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text. table, Keywords: Jigsaw, descriptive text, reading comprehension
