- Coral reefs are one of the marine biota that is a collection of coral animals that symbiosis with algae plants called zooxanthellae, the result of symbiosis with these algae makes coral reefs have a variety of shapes and colors that make it interesting to be observed and enjoyed by tourists. Coral reefs not only have beauty, but also a place to live and shelter for small fish in the sea, so that damage to the coral reefs have an impact on marine fish populations, that make coral reefs must be protected from possible damage that will occur. This study is a normative juridical law research based on data and field research by conducting interviews as a support and observations through data obtained from the results of library research, namely the search for documents, books, and the results of reading literature related to the problems discussed in this study. Based on this study, the results showed that: first, the destruction of coral reefs with the area of coral reef affected by the damage was 18,882 m2 with details of the damaged area of 13,270 m2 and medium area of 5,612 m2 in Raja Ampat by MV Caledonian Sky by Noble Caledoanian is a very detrimental event, estimated at around 2 trillion Rupiah, because coral reefs are one of the protected marine biota in the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) which came in chapter XII, and also in The United Nations Conference The 1992 On Environment And Development (UNCED) or Rio De Janeiro Earth Summit became an international obligation to protect it and if there was damage it would be tantamount to opposing UNCLOS 1982 and UNCED; second, the steps taken are very serious, starting from surveying and calculating damages, submitting claims to insurance and the demands of cruise ship companies.
