  • This study examines expressive illocutionary speech acts in the television show Mata Najwa Student Resistance. Mata Najwa television show about student resistance is related to dialogue. Through this dialogue, speakers can convey information to their interlocutors as a communication tool to find out the meaning and purpose of the speech in the event, then it can be done by identifying each speech using the theory put forward by speech act experts, one of which is the theory of speech acts classified by Searle. The purpose of this study is (1) to describe the form of expressive speech acts on the Mata Najwa television show regarding student resistance and (2) Implications in learning Indonesian in high school by utilizing the results of analysis and research findings from the Mata Najwa Student Resistance event. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data collection technique used is the listening technique and the note-taking technique. The data of this research are utterances that are included in the expressive illocutionary speech acts found in the mata najwa television program. Based on the data analysis that has been carried out, the utterances in the mata najwa event which are included in expressive illocutionary speech acts found as many as 57 data. In detail, the research data are as follows: expressive speech act of thanking as much as 1 data, expressive speech act of apologizing as much as 3 data, expressive speech act of blaming as much as 12 data, angry with 14 data, mocking 12 data, complaining 5 data, expecting 9 data, and expressive speech acts praising as much as 1 data.
