  • Gracilaria verrucosa is a brown seaweed that is commonly found in Indonesian waters. This seaweed can be used in the field of nano/micro particle technology. Silver nanoparticles have broad spectrum antimicrobial activity. Silver nanoparticles can be obtained by extraction, either traditionally, namely maceration, or in a modern way, namely ultrasonic extraction. This study aims to identify silver nanoparticles in seaweed Gracilaria verrucosa with ultrasonic extraction and maceration methods, and determine the effect of maceration treatment and ultrasonic extraction on silver nanoparticles obtained. Gracilaria verrucosa seaweed was obtained from the Anyer beach area (Cibandeng) and extracted using maceration and ultrasonic wave-assisted extraction methods. Silver nanoparticles obtained by synthesize of seaweed extract. The results showed that the mass of silver nanoparticles with ultrasonic treatment was more than the maceration treatment, namely, 20.2 mg and 14.8 mg. Meanwhile, the results of the total phenolic content (TPC) test showed that the total phenol content of the ultrasonic extraction treatment was 911,35 mg GAE/g extract. Meanwhile, the total phenol content of the samples with maceration treatment was 878,08 mg GAE/g extract. Based on the results obtained indicate that ultrasonic extraction treatment is better than maceration to obtain silver nanoparticles.
