PENGARUH SUHU DAN KONSENTRASI KATALIS ZEOLIT ALAM BAYAH TERHADAP LAJU KECEPATAN REAKSI ESTERIFIKASI ETANOL DAN ASAM ASETAT
Daftar Isi:
- Ethyl acetate is often synthesized using a catalyst in the form of sulfuric acid. Ethyl acetate is widely used as a paint solvent as well as raw material for making plastics, cosmetics and perfumes as well as in the printing ink industry. However, the use of sulfuric acid as a catalyst has several disadvantages, among others, the use of sulfuric acid will be even greater in the presence of sulfuric acid which is an integral part of the purification process and the high corrosiveness of the equipment. This research was conducted to determine the effect of temperature and concentration of natural zeolite solid catalyst in Bayah concerning the reaction speed in the esterification reaction of ethanol and acetic acid. The process of making ethyl acetate was carried out in a batch way, by mixing ethanol, acetic acid and natural zeolite as a catalyst in a 3 neck stirrer flask with a reaction time of 60 minutes. The analysis was carried out using an acid-base titration. Based on the results of the research that has been done, the highest conversion of acetic acid is 23.41% with a k value of 0.0035 mol/L.min.
