  • The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of optimizing the role of the principal as an innovator in the implementation of IT-based learning at SD PLTU Suralaya Wukir Retawu, especially when learning is carried out online. As is known, IT-based learning began to be applied when the world of education was affected by the pandemic. Therefore, educational institutions in Indonesia have begun to implement IT-based learning by utilizing online learning media. The approaches and methods used are qualitative approaches and descriptive methods through triangulation data collection techniques such as interviews, observations and documentation using the Miles and Huberman data analysis model which consists of the data collection process, data reduction, data presentation and verification/drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the role of the principal has succeeded in carrying out his role optimally, as evidenced by the results of interviews related to the principal in supporting the implementation of IT-based learning, the principal has carried out reforms in the field of teaching and learning, carried out teacher development and carried out renewal of resources in the community and school committees. Related to the supporting factors in the implementation of IT-based learning, there are adequate facilities, have educators who are able to implement learning in the classroom, in addition there is an e-learning website owned by the school itself. While the inhibiting factors are network constraints. In the observation process regarding IT-based learning activities, it can be concluded that the principal's idea has been successfully implemented by all teachers starting from the involvement of teachers and students then using IT as a learning process in delivering subject matter, and the skills to independently access learning material online.
