- The development of energy transfer which is increasingly distant has resulted in complex and vulnerable problems in dealing with various kinds of disturbances, such as voltage drops, and also power losses that occur in the system. One way to overcome this disturbance is by installing a Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS). The FACTS equipment used is a Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor (TCSC) which can reduce reactance in the line so as to maintain power balance in the electric power system. The effectiveness of TCSC installation is influenced by the location and rating of the installation, the Real-Coded Genetic Algorithm (RGA) method is used to determine it. The simulation results show an improvement in the voltage profile in accordance with the rules of the Java-Bali electric power system (0.95 p.u V 1.05 p.u) and reduce power losses. The simulation results show an improvement in the voltage profile of 0.0383 p.u to 0.0514 p.u and reduce active power losses of 73.546 MW to 167, 102 MW and reactive power losses of 840.281 MVAR to 1728.471 MVAR.
