- Congestive heart failure is a condition in which the heart cannot maintain adequate circulation to the body, despite normal venous blood pressure. Heart failure is a disease that is increasing, especially among the elderly. In congestive heart failure or heart failure, despite adequate venous return, the heart cannot maintain adequate cardiac output to meet metabolic demands and oxygen requirements in the tissues (Asmoro, 2017). A decrease in cardiac output is at risk of experiencing inadequate heart pumping to meet the body's metabolic needs (DPP PPNI DPP Pokja SDKI Team, 2016). Administration of oxygen or oxygen therapy is an effort to increase oxygen intake into the respiratory system, increase hemodynamic carrying capacity and increase tissue oxygen extraction power. Giving oxygen as a drug or oxygen therapy in several studies, among others, can improve cor pulmonale, improve heart function, improve neuropsychiatric function, reduce pulmonary hypertension, and improve muscle metabolism. The purpose of the study was to conduct emergency nursing care in heart failure patients with risk problems for decreased cardiac output. The research method uses a case study method with 2 clients as respondents which was carried out in March 2022 at dr. Dradjat Prawiranegara. The results showed that both clients had congestive heart failure (CHF) with nursing problems decreasing cardiac output. Implementation is done to reduce shortness of breath in patients with congestive heart failure, namely by giving oxygen or oxygen therapy. The results of the evaluation of the problem in decreasing cardiac output in patients with congestive heart failure were resolved by giving oxygen.
