- Hernia is an abnormality in the abdominal wall that allows abdominal contents to protrude from the abdominal cavity. Surgical trauma and intra-abdominal enlargement caused by various conditions, such as pregnancy, obesity, lifting heavy weights, or tumors, are risk factors for hernia formation (LeMone, 2017). Surgical site infection (IDO) is an infection caused by surgery that can affect various layers of body tissues. Infection of the surgical area, namely infection at the incision site due to surgery, is obtained 30-90 days after the surgery (Ministry of Health, 2017). The purpose of writing this scientific paper is to determine the risk of infection nursing care for post-hernia surgery patients with wound care at dr. Prawiranegara Drajat. In the preparation of this scientific paper, the writer uses a descriptive method with a case study approach, namely the scientific method which is to collect data, analyze data and draw data conclusions using interview, observation, physical examination, documentation studies, and library research techniques. This observation was carried out with 2 patients in the operating room with post hernia surgery. Interventions that are carried out to prevent the risk of infection are wound care measures. The results of the intervention carried out in patient 1 and patient 2 for 3 days were that there were no signs of infection such as calor, dolor, rubor, tumor, function, and laboratory values of leukocytes within normal limits. It is hoped that from this case study the wound care carried out always applies sterile techniques so that the wound healing process can run well.
