- The purpose of this research was to know the growth response of Beneng Taro (Xanthosoma undipes K.Koch) on some concentrations of MS medium and growth regulator kinetin in vitro. The research was conducted started from May until July 2015 at Biotechnology Laboratory of Agriculture Faculty, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. Research was arranged in Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors. The first factor was concentration of MS medium with 3 levels (1⁄4 MS, 1⁄2 MS, and 1 MS) and the second factor was concentration of growth regulator kinetin with 4 levels (0 mg/l; 2,5 mg/l; 5 mg/l; and 7,5 mg/l). Therefore, there were 12 combinations of treatments, each treatment was repeated two times so there were 24 experimental units. The result of this research showed that concentration of MS medium did not give significantly effect to all parameters except leaf appearance time and leaves number in 4 weeks after planting. Control of kinetin gave significantly effect to shoots number in 4 weeks after planting and leaves number in 4,5 weeks after planting. Concentration of 2,5 mgl kinetin gave significantly effect to shoots number, plants height, and leaves number in 4 weeks after planting. Interaction between concentration of MS medium and growth regulator kinetin gave significantly effects to shoots number, plants height, leaves number, and root appearance time.
