- The backgroud of this research based on the result of observation in teaching activity. In learning process teacher did not use many methods but only applying speech method. It’s effect on low activity and learning outcomes. The purpose of this research is to improve the activity and learning outcomes on the problem of local social environment trough word square method at the fourth grade of SDN Panibungan. This research conducted of two cycles, each cycles consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The result of this research showed that: 1) student and teacher’s activity increasedafter using word square method, 2) student’s learning outcomes has increased each cycles. The first cycle received an average of 65,26, while the second cycle gets an average of 81,5. Based on the result of the research, researcher concludes that student ang teacher’s activity has increased by 16,24% by using word square method ang has achieved a distinguished of KKM is already determined.
