- Mud Crab (Scylla serrata) is one of the coastal fisheries product which is mostly interested by the people because its delicious taste and also contains high protein, especially the mature crabs. The aims of this research are to analyze the level of mud crab maturity and to determine a legal size for fishing activities. Collection was condueted on 12th April – 11th May 2014. Data using experimental fishing method the collabsible traps have covered by PE multifilament, mesh size 2.5 cm, with size 42x28x17 cm. The funnel opening at outside is 17 cm while inside is 1.5 cm and if it is distanced, it can be width 6 cm. The funnel angle is 20° and funnel length is 15.5 cm. The number of males mud crabs about 50.63% and females 49.37%. The level of males mud crab maturity is mostly level I there are 40.00%, while for females 61.54%. The legal size for males mud crab has carapace width >113 mm, carapace length >76 mm and weight >320 g, while for females has carapace width >123 mm, carapace length >82 mm and weight >310 g.
