  • Mangosteen or in Latin Garcinia Mangostana L. is one of fruit thatgrown inIndonesia. Public demandofmangosteen fruitincreased foreach year because ithas a good efficacy for human health as well as taste sweet and fresh fruit wheneaten. Mangosteen plantation farmers must always maintain the quality andquantity of the plantation so that the results are in line with expectations. Thisresearch helps farmers mangosteen plantation within the classification quality ofmangosteen using Learning Vector Quantiztion (LVQ). There are three classes ofsuper quality, quality 1, and quality 2. There are two processes in the LVQmethod, the first is the training process and the second is the testing process. Theinput data used in the training and testing process is the extraction of imagefeatures mangosteen taken using a digital camera which consists of the mean,standard deviation, kurtosis,skewness and entropy. Extraction of features used inthis study is obtained from the histogram of color, grayscale histogram,saturation level histogram, and Sobel method histogram.LVQ method will beautomatically classify the image of the mangosteen fruit into each class.Classification results on the first test gets an accuracy of 85% for thesuperquality,55%forfirst qualityand60%forsecondquality, in thesecond testgetsan accuracy of30% for thesuper quality,80% for first qualityand80% forsecondquality,inthe thirdtestgetsan accuracy of70%for thesuper quality,20%for first quality, and40% forsecondquality.
