- This research is motivated by the lack of mathematical problem solving ability of students, so it is necessary to find an alternative learning can enhance students' mathematical problem solving ability, one of which is the adoption of methods of peer teaching through problem-based learning. This study aims to determine: (1) Is the mathematical problem solving ability of students to use peer teaching methods through an approach Problem Based Learning (PBL) is better than students who use cooperative learning; (2) Is the increase in mathematical problem solving ability of students to use peer teaching method through the approach of Problem Based Learning (PBL) is better than students who use cooperative learning. The research was conducted in SMP Negeri 1 Pamarayan. Selection of the sample using random cluster sampling technique, the quasi- experimental method and design of a control group of non-equivalence. The results showed: (1) mathematical problem solving ability of students to use peer teaching method through the approach of Problem Based Learning (PBL) is better than students who use cooperative learning; (2) The increase in mathematical problem solving ability of students to use peer teaching method through the approach of Problem Based Learning (PBL) is better than students who use cooperative learning.
